Early Preschool Development

During the Pre-Kindergarten stage, your child's sense of independence and natural desire to explore continues to grow. Huge learning curves in their thinking, socially, and emotionally take place.

Our goal is to make sure that as your child develops at their own pace, they have a nurturing environment to do so.

Your Early Preschooler's Developmental Areas

Anchor 1

COGNITIVE

DEVELOPMENT

  • Create simple patterns and sort objects according to size and color

  • Perform simple addition and subtraction

  • Follow three-part commands

  • Recognize and identify common objects and pictures

In this stage your child

begins to

  • understand most of what they're told, and use sentences of 3-5 words, or even more.

  • Retell a familiar story with the beginning, middle, and end in order

  • Write his or her name as well as many other letters

  • Say his or her name and age

LANGUAGE &

COMMUNICATION

In this stage your child

begins to

  • Seek out interactions with a variety of adults, with both new and familiar people

  • Show affection for familiar family and friends

  • Understands the idea of "mine" and "his/hers"

  • Demonstrate an ability to resolve conflicts using words

SOCIAL

&

EMOTIONAL GROWTH

In this stage your child

begins to

  • Coordinate different body movements to catch and throw a ball and move through obstacle courses

  • Perform tasks, like unscrewing a lid from a jar

  • Turn rotating handles

  • Playing tag on the playground.
